Raise your hand if you have recently taken time to read a book. Hello? Anyone? In our journey as entrepreneurs it becomes so easy to let the things we do just for ourselves slip. Reading, unfortunately tends to fall in that "just for fun" category and will get shuffled to the side when we think there are better things we can be doing for our business. But, trust me, the emails can wait for an hour and the blog post will still be there in 30 minutes. I encourage you to bring back the books! Reading for a minimum of 30 minutes a day can actually help you in your business. Reading enhances your mental stimulation, reduces stress, expands your vocabulary, improves memory, and even makes you a better writer!

So, without further ado, I give you my list of hands down, must read, top ten essential books for female entrepreneurs:

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of You Are a Badass, an in-depth guide to making the kind of money you've only ever dreamed of.

You Are a Badass at Making Money is a refreshingly frank and entertaining step-by-step guide to overcoming the fears and stumbling blocks that have kept financial success out of reach and to giving yourself the permission to make the kind of money you've never made before. Drawing on her own experience of transforming herself - over just a few years - from a woman with tumbleweeds blowing through her bank account, subsisting solely on Taco Bell, to a woman who travels the world and stays in five-star luxury hotels, Jen knows all too well the layers of BS one can get wrapped up in when it comes to money as well as what it takes to dig your way out. You Are a Badass at Making Money goes in depth on how powerful thoughts shape our income potential and the ways in which our bank accounts are mirrors for our bugaboos about money. Written with the same inimitable sass and blunt practicality that made You Are a Badass an indomitable best seller, You Are a Badass at Making Money combines hilarious personal essays with life-changing bite-size concepts that anyone can employ to unlock earning potential and get real results.

Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable, or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts.

In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection. The book that Dr. Brown's many fans have been waiting for, Daring Greatly will spark a new spirit of truth - and trust - in our organizations, families, schools, and communities.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with why. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the why behind it.

Start with Why shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way - and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with why.

Think and Grow Rich
By Napoleon Hill, Ben Holden-Crowther

In Think and Grow Rich, Hill draws on stories of Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires of his generation to illustrate his principles. This book will teach you the secrets that could bring you a fortune. It will show you not only what to do but how to do it. Once you learn and apply the simple, basic techniques revealed here, you will have mastered the secret of true and lasting success.

Money and material things are essential for freedom of body and mind, but there are some who will feel that the greatest of all riches can be evaluated only in terms of lasting friendships, loving family relationships, understanding between business associates, and introspective harmony which brings one true peace of mind! All who read, understand, and apply this philosophy will be better prepared to attract and enjoy these spiritual values.

#GIRLBOSS
By Sophia Amoruso

#GIRLBOSS includes Sophia's story, yet is infinitely bigger than Sophia. It's deeply personal yet universal. Filled with brazen wake-up calls ("You are not a special snowflake"), cunning and frank observations ("Failure is your invention"), and behind-the-scenes stories from Nasty Gal's meteoric rise, #GIRLBOSS covers a lot of ground. It proves that being successful isn't about how popular you were in high school or where you went to college (if you went to college). Rather, success is about trusting your instincts and following your gut, knowing which rules to follow and which to break.

A #GIRLBOSS takes her life seriously without taking herself too seriously. She takes chances and takes responsibility on her own terms. She knows when to throw punches and when to roll with them. When to button up and when to let her freak flag fly.

It's human nature to seek out tribes, be they religious, ethnic, economic, political, or even musical (think of the Deadheads).  Now the Internet has eliminated the barriers of geography, cost, and time. Social media gives anyone who wants to make a difference the tools to do so.

With his signature wit and storytelling flair, Godin presents the three steps to building a tribe: the desire to change things, the ability to connect a tribe, and the willingness to lead.

If you think leadership is for other people, think again—leaders come in surprising packages. Consider Joel Spolsky and his international tribe of scary-smart software engineers. Or Gary Vaynerhuck, a wine expert with a devoted following of enthusiasts. Chris Sharma led a tribe of rock climbers up impossible cliff faces, while Mich Mathews, a VP at Microsoft, ran her internal tribe of marketers from her cube in Seattle.

Tribes will make you think—really think—about the opportunities to mobilize an audience that are already at your fingertips. It's not easy, but it's easier than you think.
